
Mr Richard Baker is a specialist joint replacement consultant surgeon, working at The Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital, Nuffield Health Bristol Hospital, Spire Bristol Hospital and Tetbury Hospital Trust. He has dedicated his entire career to orthopaedic surgery and research since graduating from Manchester University in 1999. He trained in Bristol and completed fellowship training in the prestigious Vancouver joint replacement unit. Mr Richard Baker currently performs over 400 joint replacements a year, specialising in both primary hip and knee replacements, partial medial knee replacements and revision surgery of both hip and knee replacements. During his career, he has published many scientific papers on orthopaedic conditions, mainly joint replacements, and has been a speaker at numerous international medical conferences. Currently, he is the advisory editor of ‘Hip International’, the journal of the European HIP Society, having been its Editor-in-Chief for six years previously. Mr Baker prides himself on his warm bedside manner and ability to offer patient-centred joint replacement surgery.
In partnership with consultant anaesthetist, Dr Stephen Tolchard, they have performed in excess of 3,500 joint replacements since 2012.
