“My first appointment with Mr Richard Baker was in October 2022 at his Tetbury Clinic. At the time I was in tremendous pain from my left hip, and my mobility was greatly reduced. Examination of x-rays clearly indicated that a total hip replacement was the required course of action. I found Mr Baker to be very polite, personable and knowledgeable, any doubts and worries about the operation were dealt with professionally and I was completely at ease with any concerns.More patient stories and reviews
My total hip replacement operation was performed at The Chesterfield by Mr Baker on Monday 12th December 2022. Within a couple of hours after the operation I was out of bed and standing on my new hip for the first time. I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday 14th December 2022. My recovery was exceptional, with no pain in the hip, or problems with the wound area which has healed perfectly. Following advice given to me by Mr Baker and his team at The Chesterfield, on care and exercise, I was able to resume driving by six weeks, and within there months cycling to improve my fitness.
As a retired engineer aged 72 years I have always enjoyed cycling and in September 2023 I completed a charity cycle ride of 60 miles in one day. With great confidence, in November 2023, I signed up to fund raise for SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity, taking part in the D-Day 80 ride in Normandy over the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, which consisted of cycling up to 80 miles a day for three consecutive days visiting the locations familiar to all, Gold Beach, especially for me as my father, a Royal Engineer, landed here on the 6th June 1944, added poingancy for me was that I was carrying my father’s ‘Dog Tag’. This commemorative journey was only made possible for me by having my total hip replaced, I am so delighted and grateful to Mr Richard Baker for his work, it has allowed me to regain my freedom to enjoy an active life.”
